Level 1 History
Course Description

History explores the past and how it helps us to explain the present and make better decisions about the future.
History at Level 1 includes some of the following:
1. How to interpret the traces of the past such as photographs, newspaper accounts, diaries etc
2. Students learning about historical injustice.
3. Exploring the significance of important places, events, and people.
4. Taking different historical perspectives of people in controversial events.
5. Researching and understanding concepts within a historical context such as mana, whakapapa, turangawaewae, cause and consequence.
Recommended Prior Learning
Pre-Requisite: Successful completion of Year 10 Social Studies is desirable
